U.S. JOINT FORCES COMMAND IMPLEMENTS XYTHOS IN MULTINATIONAL EXPERIMENT 4

Content Management Software Assists Collaboration between NATO and Coalition Partners

March 13, 2006

San Francisco, CA, Mar. 13, 2006 - Xythos Software, the leading developer of essential document and file management software, today announced that the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) is implementing Xythos’ Enterprise Document Management Suite as part of its Multinational Experiment 4 (MNE4.) Scheduled as an international experiment that will run from Feb 20 – March 17, 2006, MNE4 will explore the use of international power to influence the behavior of adversaries. The MNE4 participants – Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the United States - will be looking at diplomatic information, military information and the economic aspects of ‘knowledge support’, with the US acting as overall lead for this distributed event. Insights from the MNE4 will be used to inform joint, interagency and multinational operations – and are expected to assist in transformation of military operations.

Xythos open standards-based application was selected to support JFCOM’s previous test, the Multinational Experiment 3. The Enterprise Document Management Suite has the ability to facilitate coalition collaboration and create an information-rich sharing environment. This environment enables global participants to collectively author, publish and manage documents efficiently over a distributed network. In MNE4 Xythos will also help to facilitate a multinational collaborative environment, as well as a ‘knowledge base’ development effort. This entire range of effects-based operations (EBO), along with knowledge-based development and effects-based planning, execution and assessment, will form the basis for participating nations to examine multinational interagency group coordination, logistics interoperability, information operations and medical support.

Xythos' software will assist over 800 participants engaged in the experiment, to effectively organize, store and share knowledge. With MNE4, JFCOM is testing a secure, collaborative environment in which all coalition partners can see virtually all information without compromising content security.

"We’re witnessing a growing demand for solutions that easily integrate with existing US government applications as well as those used by our allies," observed Ed Miller, CEO of Xythos. "Xythos is pleased to contribute to helping commanders and their staffs gain a holistic understanding of the operational environment. Facilitating testing of the coalition’s ability to organize, store and share knowledge is an honor for our company.- and we appreciate the confidence JFCOM has placed in Xythos," he added.
