XYTHOS PROVIDES USERS WITHIN AIR OPERATIONS CENTER WITH IMPROVED DOCUMENT ACCESS AND MANAGEMENT
Software Evaluation Underway to Enhance Decision Process for Air Combat Personnel
March 13, 2006
San Francisco, CA – March 13, 2006 – Xythos Software, the leading developer of open standards-based essential document and file management software, today announced that it has been participating in Joint Expeditionary Forces Experiment 2006 (JEFX ’06). Conducted in conjunction with three coalition partners, JEFX ’06 is intended to provide users within the Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) with a set of tools to improve collaboration and decision-making in support of the war fighter. Tests will include datalink equipped aircraft and explore the tactical use of Internet Protocol airborne networking.
With its mission to protect and defend air space in support of the United States, the CAOC must have access to accurate, relevant, and timely information. Information such as air tasking and air coordination orders, must be based on the approved and current version of a document, in order to facilitate effective mission execution. The consequences of distributing and acting on inaccurate information may result in the loss of life—an unacceptable situation for the CAOC.
JEFX ’06 is currently testing solutions that may enhance and support command-centric decision-making. As a result of extensive research and the successful implementation of the Xythos Enterprise Document Manager at the U.S. Joint Forces Command, Xythos was selected to participate in the evaluation. Contributing to an environment that includes ‘true battle rhythm’ plus simulation and live play, Xythos provides web-enabled workflow, document and records management capabilities for the CAOC.
“In our world, the accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of information is as critical as its security,” stated Elaine LaMaster, chief of the Air Component Enterprise Information Management Branch. “Through the evaluation, we expect to see Xythos provide our users with better access and control of critical information which will assist in improving CAOC processes.”
The Xythos Enterprise Document Manager enables the CAOC to centralize its documents in a single web-enabled application for collaboration, storage and distribution, while maintaining the highest levels of content security. With its document level access control model and integrated support for directory service security and transport encryption, Xythos enables organizations to safely manage and share confidential information while responding to increased content security and compliance requirements.
“We’re experiencing growing demand from geographically distributed organizations, such as the AOC, to improve their ability to collaborate and facilitate critical decision-making,” commented Ed Miller, CEO of Xythos. “Through our open standards-based architecture and comprehensive document library services, Xythos can help these organizations improve intelligence sharing and become more immediately responsive to their environment without compromising data security,” he added.
