XYTHOS ALLIANCE WITH INTECHNOLOGY DELIVERS WEB-BASED DOCUMENT AND FILE MANAGEMENT SERVICE TO UK CUSTOMERS
Strategic agreement introduces content management as a web service for academic and research institutions
March 08, 2006
8 March 2006 – London UK - Xythos Software, the leading developer of essential document and file management software, today announced that it has signed its first distribution partnership to bring Xythos technology to the UK marketplace. The alliance with InTechnology, calls for the company to both resell Xythos Software products as well as offer the software as a Hosted Service, providing proven web-based content management and collaboration applications to UK organisations. The applications are designed to help organisations better manage, store and share the vast amounts of unstructured information that exist throughout their enterprises so that they can better respond to regulatory compliance requirements and improve the overall competitiveness of their organisations.
The InTechnology Xythos-based WebFile service is a first of its kind for the UK market and will help accelerate the adoption of Xythos technology within the country. “Providing customers with the option of acquiring enterprise content management as a web service or a self-managed application helps UK enterprises to match Xythos technology with their specific business needs,” remarked Ed Miller, CEO of Xythos. “Xythos is delighted to have InTechnology offer Xythos technology as part of its proven application services delivery model,” he added.
The match between the two companies is a strong one and promises to bring significant benefits to the UK, particularly the UK public sector, including academic institutions and related bodies. The WebFile Service includes Xythos’ standards-based WebFile Server and Digital Locker applications which are already used by 200 US academic organisations and over two million users, combined with the InTechnology application services delivery model and state-of-the-art UK data centres.
While the service will initially target UK academic institutions and government organisations, both companies expect to introduce the technology into other sectors in the near future. Xythos already has a strong commercial customer base including Chubb Insurance, Deloitte, Time and Wells Fargo.
UK organisations must address many of the content management and sharing challenges faced by their US colleagues, stated Bryn Sage, Director of Managed Services for InTechnology. “As this requirement becomes more pervasive throughout the organisation, proven and scalable solutions are needed and our partnership with Xythos is uniquely positioned to help address that need.”
Basic content management software, such as Xythos’ applications, are expected to play an increasingly important role within enterprise organisations as they seek to overcome the difficulties associated with email collaboration - and attempt to gain better control over the valuable information located throughout their systems. Analysts have cited increased organisational interdependence, a growing mobile workforce and the potential risks associated with legal discovery requests as key factors contributing to the need for improved collaboration and content management. The Xythos and InTechnology partnership will help to make content management solutions more readily available to UK organisations struggling to address these challenges.
