JAL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SELECTS XYTHOS FOR DOCUMENT COLLABORATION

Assist Micro, Xythos Partner in Japan, Addresses Enterprise Customer Opportunities

August 31, 2005

San Francisco, CA – August 31, 2005 – Xythos Software, the leading developer of simple document and file management software, today announced that its Japanese partner, Assist Micro, has signed an agreement with JAL Information Technology Co, Ltd. (JIT). According to the agreement, JIT’s Corporate Information Systems will deploy Xythos technology across departments, centralizing both the control and access of documents for its users. With an IS strategy that combines best-of-breed third party applications with in-house developed applications, Corporate IS had been seeking a web-based solution to its document management and collaboration needs. Assist Micro introduced JIT to the capabilities of Xythos, leading to a proof of concept and culminating in the selection of Xythos WebFile Server.

Yusuke Kuriyama is the Vice President of Corporate Information Systems for JIT, responsible for providing the network, packaged business and systems integration services for the company. His staff supports 1500 users located across six branches from Narita, Haneda and Osaka, to Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo. "With 50 separate servers and separate administrators, we were concerned about both security and the consumption of storage resources. Since most of our business is with Japan Airlines, our users share tens of thousands of files across the two companies. That data must be protected, shared and accessible," stated Mr. Kuriyama.

Prior to trialing the Xythos software, JIT had used Windows™-based file servers but its users found it difficult to collaborate and share files. "When Mr. Kuriyama first studied the feasibility of a WebDAV-based product, he discovered that Xythos had such a solution and that it was built on the standards he wanted to deploy," commented Taro Momose, president of Assist Micro. After completing its evaluation, JIT selected Xythos WebFile Server to address its collaboration and document management needs.

"We are pleased to support the information and document management needs of a company like JIT," stated Ed Miller, CEO and president of Xythos Software, Inc. "And we appreciate the effort that Assist Micro has expended in working with this enterprise customer."
