SAS OEM'S XYTHOS WEBFILE SERVER
Database Trends and Applications
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 1, 2004 - Xythos Software, a leading developer of simple document and file management software, announced that SAS has integrated its WebFile Server technology with the SAS9 Enterprise Business Intelligence Server and the SAS Information Delivery Portal. WebFile Server provides the foundation for simple document management and collaboration solutions based on the Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) standards.
"This is a mechanism for managing all unstructured data in a Web-enabled environment," Jim Till, vice president of marketing, told 5 Minute Briefing in an exclusive interview. "This is a very important deal for us. It increases our stature."
The integration of Xythos technology with SAS9 is the most recent step in the two companies' relationship, which began when SAS introduced Xythos' WebDAV-based document management technology in SAS Drug Development. Later, the product was integrated with SAS Corporate Compliance for Sarbanes-Oxley, which addresses the issues of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation. WebFile Server allows companies to incorporate unstructured "contextual" data with the analysis of structured data, Till noted. Xythos has concluded other important OEM deals with Oracle and Blackboard. It also offers its technology on a standalone basis.
