SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 26, 2004 - WebFile Server OEMed in SAS 9 WebDAV functionality now available to SAS business intelligence customers.
One of the most important trends in data management and document management is that vendors of business intelligence software are exploring ways to team up with vendors of unstructured data management software to createsolutions that manage both structured and unstructured data.
SAS has integrated WebFile Server technology with the SAS Enterprise Business Intelligence Server offering, announce Xythos Software, developer of simple document and file management software.
The integration of Xythos technology with SAS is the most recent step in the two companies' relationship, which began when SAS introduced Xythos' WebDAV-based document management technology in SAS Drug Development.
This move was followed by a similar integration with SAS Corporate Compliance for Sarbanes-Oxley, which addresses the issues of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
With the release , SAS began shipping the WebFile Server with the SAS Enterprise Business Intelligence Server, and the SAS Information Delivery Portal.
"The combination of SAS and Xythos technology helps SAS customers gain greater utility from their enterprise information by delivering data to decision makers that is filtered for their interests and security privileges via the Web," said Don Hatcher, vice president of technology strategy at SAS.
SAS 9 represents a revolutionary new generation of SAS technology, allowing customers to transform data into intelligence faster and more effectively than ever before.

The Xythos SAS 9 integration is just the latest example of growing developer support for Xythos' brand of simple document and file management.
Xythos WebFile Server technology has also recently been integrated within the Blackboard Content System from Blackboard Inc., the leading provider of enterprise software and services to the education industry.
Commercial software developers aren't the only one's implementing Xythos. The company's products have been selected by dozen's of enterprise software developers seeking simpler, lower cost methods to integrate Web enabled document and file management within a variety of business processes and applications, including: commercial underwriting, medical research testing and manufacturing process validation.
