More Universities Select Xythos for Document Collaboration and Storage
New Customers Building Institutional Data Repositories on Open Standards-based Platform
Washington DC,– July 30, 2007– Xythos Software, a leading developer of basic document management software, today announced that over a dozen higher education institutions have selected its software for enterprise document management and collaboration. New Xythos customers include Abilene Christian University, City University of New York (CUNY), Concordia University, Eastern Illinois University, Fashion Institute of Technology, Fuller Theological Seminary, Louisiana State University, Medical University of South Carolina, New York University, Occidental College, Princeton University, Texas State University, The College of William and Mary, University of California - Santa Barbara, University of Kansas and Wesleyan University.
Increased requirements for improved content security and compliance, coupled with a growing need to provide enhanced document collaboration service across campuses, continue to drive demand for Xythos technology. In addition, schools are beginning to implement more advanced Xythos features such as records management as they seek to develop common repositories of record to protect valuable institutional content. As a result, Xythos is becoming a back end data storage service for other campus applications such as e-portfolios and learning management systems.
Ease of technology integration and the ability to customize the software has also prompted Xythos customers to develop open source solutions to better support the data storage requirements of other applications. Northwestern University recently created File Bridge, an open source project which helps Blackboard users more easily manage and share their course content using Xythos. “Web-enabled storage and collaboration is becoming a more common component of enterprise applications,” said Brian Nielsen, Project Manager for Faculty Initiatives, at the University. “Xythos can help institutions deliver that functionality without replacing legacy systems,” he added.

At the University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy, Aditya Garg, a senior computer supervisor within the Regulatory Science Program, evaluated five solutions before choosing Xythos Enterprise Document Management Suite (EDMS). While end-user experiences and integration capabilities were factors, Xythos’ open standards-based environment was a critical component for Garg. “I want to be able to keep my options open and know that if I choose to add additional functionality or components I can,” said Garg.
Xythos will be featuring a variety of college and university use case examples during its presentations and booth demonstrations this week at Campus Technology 2007, booth #407.
