GNI STRENGTHENS GLOBAL R&D NETWORK BY INTRODUCING INDUSTRY STANDARD I.T. PLATFORM
TOKYO, August 29, 2006 – GNI Ltd, a leading biopharmaceutical company in Asia, announced today that it has strengthened its IT management systems with the introduction of Xythos Enterprise Document Manager 5.0, which is widely adopted by global pharmaceutical companies and research institutes. Xythos Enterprise Document Manager 5.0 has been specially developed to allow large amounts of information to be shared and managed in a highly secure environment. Utilizing this system, GNI will fully integrate and manage data received from business and academic research partners, therefore further strengthening the firm’s R&D capabilities.
All of GNI’s research data will now be centrally controlled under this highly secure system and will be accessible from any location via the internet. Using strict access authorization, all GNI researchers as well as partner universities and research institutions can simultaneously share and access data. The system also maintains up-to-date access logs, therefore helping to improve internal control systems.
GNI’s Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and founder, Dr. Christopher Savoie, said, “Analyzing vast amounts of data is a key activity of a biopharmaceutical company like GNI. GNI has now developed a global network incorporating its own research facilities as well as joint researchpartnerships with institutions throughout the world. It is therefore crucial that the firm can rely on an IT platform capable of effectively and securely managing and controlling research data. GNI adopted Xythos Enterprise Document Manager 5.0 following the advice of CTC Laboratories, anIT developer with a strong track record in the pharmaceutical industry, and as a result has strengthened both its IT infrastructure and R&D capabilities. Combining innovative Western science with cost-efficient research capabilities in China, GNI is the first foreign biopharmaceutical company to enter the Chinese market. With improved R&D capabilities in place, GNI is now in a position to further prove the efficacy of its business model.”
Tetsuya Yoshikawa, General Manager in GNI’s General Affairs Division, added, “GNI’s aim has been to build a comprehensive IT infrastructure to allow seamless interaction between our business and research sites in Tokyo, Fukuoka, China and U.K. With the introduction of Xythos Enterprise Document Manager 5.0, we are confident that such a solution is now in place.”
