Government Inter-agency Collaboration
The need to improve government inter-agency and department collaboration while protecting sensitive information has never been greater. Xythos technology is already being put to this test in combat situations around the globe, in federally-funded research projects, and in a variety of collaborative inter-agency projects.
Unlike traditional ECM software and proprietary document storage systems, Xythos' open-standards based basic content management solutions are uniquely qualified to meet new government open architecture and ease of integration requirements.
Enables Interagency Collaboration
Xythos accelerates secure document sharing and exchange within and between government agencies through secure file links. Users can share files directly from within the applications they already use, so there's no need to check documents in and out of complex content management systems or copy them into separate 'team rooms' simply to share them. Interagency collaboration also becomes a lot simpler as participants receive automatic notification of file changes inside their standard email programs. Contract solicitation and bidding can be accelerated when participants are instantly notified about changes, keeping everyone up-to-date on process status.
"Xythos' adherence to open standards and cross-platform support are important reasons why WebFile Server has worked so successfully within our community."Eric Baenen, General Dynamics
Improves Security & Compliance
Increased information protection legislation now requires that government agencies improve content security and reporting. The Xythos system integrates directly with enterprise directory services such as LDAP and Active Directory, ensuring that users can only access what they are permitted to. Xythos Enterprise Document Manager also allows administrators to define and modify document classes, document properties, permission templates and retention rules for directories and documents. As a result, documents can be stored as records and easily searched using keyword or metadata. The Xythos system also takes advantage of existing government encryption and data transport protection standards including SSL (secure socket layer) encryption, existing VPN or other secure network connections as well as multi-level authentication.
Leverages Existing Technology
Xythos solutions are optimized for the diverse environments of federal and state government organizations, supporting all major application servers, including Unix, Solaris, Linux and Windows 2000/2003/XP, as well as popular client systems. Xythos' open standards-based architecture allows the product to be platform independent and enables it to be installed in existing server environments without introducing new system requirements. Xythos leverages existing standards for system authentication and transport security making it easy to integrate the WebFile Server into a government organization's current applications and network infrastructure.
Deploys and Customizes Easily
Xythos file and content management solutions operate inside the applications that most users already know, minimizing training time and costs. Xythos JSR 168 portlets can be easily integrated into J2EE-compatible portal environment, allowing snapshots of critical documents to be displayed through the portal. The WebFile Server's J2EE architecture, built-in XML support, and fully documented APIs simplifies integration of unstructured information with existing government processes or applications and reduces the cost of maintaining multiple, separate applications. Most Xythos applications are deployed within a matter of days-even in diverse server environments.
Provides Offline Data Protection and Synchronization for Field Research
It is often necessary for teams to collect information in the field before they can update other members of their team. With the Xythos Drive, team members can update files offline and have them automatically synchronized the next time they connect. The Xythos Drive can also turn any Windows desktop software into a collaborative application with its advanced file management features; its online file backup makes the Xythos Drive ideal for protecting any type of content stored on institutional laptops or other client systems.
