Company History
Incorporated in 1999, Xythos set out to turn the web into a two-way medium for managing and sharing content. The founders of Xythos recognized the value which evolving open technology standards could provide new web applications and began developing a content management platform that would meet the needs of popular web portals and application services providers whose customer counts were growing by the millions.
Xythos soon discovered that the high levels of reliability, scalability and security which they had designed for the internet portals was also a requirement for distributed enterprise organizations seeking better ways to protect and manage their own content. Increased requirements for improved content security combined with a growing demand for simpler ways to collaborate on documents soon created new market opportunities for Xythos as its family of WebFile Server applications were deployed in academic, commercial and government institutions.
As the number of Xythos users began to grow into the millions, demand for a stand alone document and file management service became more obvious. While large institutions valued their ability to easily integrate Xythos technology together with their own various systems, smaller organizations and independent departments within larger institutions didn't have the resources or time to deploy and manage their own Xythos systems. As a result, Xythos introduced Xythos on Demand as the first basic content management service on the web. Today, hundreds of millions of web savvy computer users now have access to the same enterprise-class content management capabilities enjoyed by the world's largest organizations thanks to Xythos on Demand.
